Starts out focusing on a child who can 'see' the dead. Talks about her getting visits from her dead grandmother and angels. The reporter pretends to be skeptical, but obviously isn't and he's eating it all up. She 'sees' angels around him. Child appears to be somwhere between 16 and 23 (can't tell her age).

Then goes into brief synposis of what an Indigo Child is (born after 1978, has special powers, very sensitive, can't stay focused in school, psychics see Indigo auras around them, etc).

Then there's interviews with a child psychologist who should have her license revoked. She says she gets small children who claim to see things in their room, and then she tells them angels usually do that, and the kids say 'Wow...' and it's because she's affirming what they see and believing them (when in reality it looks like she's telling them what they see not the other way around).

Brief interview with a skeptic who demolishes all the bullshit

then back to our psychic teen who then has a 'psychic photo' taken with interviewer which 'proves' she is an indigo child, aura is huge around her, not so much around him.

Oh they also mention Indigo Children as seen in films and books, and how the phenom. is growing.

Then they close with her 'giving the message' which is we're here...and we're here to help you.

Rolling Eyes

New one on me, so I googled "indigo children".

For parents of Indigo Children:

Quote:
This site will allow for updates on the Indigo Children information as presented in these books, as well as give links to other related sites as time goes on. The main areas of concentration will be:

Updated information to contact the Contributing AUTHORS of the first Indigo book.

Progressive SCHOOLS in areas around the country, in addition to the two kinds presented in book 1.

LINKS to helpful websites that are listed in book 1 and also revealed as time goes on, which relate to the Indigo subject.

NEWS BYTES, which offers fascinating articles about Children in the press.

ANNOUNCEMENTS - Messages we would like you to see.

Follow the OTHER BOOKS link for books specific to Indigos, that are NOT mentioned in "The Indigo Children" or "An Indigo Celebration" books.

INDIGO CELEBRATION is a page dedicated to the second Indigo book, "An Indigo Celebration."
So it's not just woo. It's profitable woo. Mad

Really? The whole Indigo Children/Crystal Children nonsense has been going around for a few years now.

What makes me sad for the children involved is that these kids are going to grow up being taught by their woo parents (and other idiots that buy into it) that the sun rises and sets out of their asses and then they are going to go out into the real world and find this not to be the case. These kids are not being prepared for the realities of life.

Oh sorry my bad, I'm familiar with them and made the assumptive leap everyone else would be too.

Basically an 'Indigo Child' has many MANY similiarities in common with a child with ADD/ADHD, though it also has many commonalities with children who have parents far too immersed in their child's life.

Basic rundown is:

Born after 1978
High IQ (determined not through testing or grades, only claims from parents)
High creativity (again, based on claims not testing)
"Sees things" at night in the bedroom (most children do)
Unable to relate well to peers (is "different" in some respect)
Inability to focus in class, or do well in a structured class setting

Not everything is required to be there though, that's just a general 'jist'. Other than the necessary DOB, you could make most people 'fit' the description in various ways. You could absolutely make ADD/ADHD kids 'fit' even more easily.

And of course toss in more woo shit like 'psychics see blue auras around them', and a tad of Christian myth 'angels! we got angels' and a purpose 'they're sent here to help mankind', and you've got a decent idea of the nonsense.

What really tremendously pissed me off in that report though was the therapist (I missed her designation, I'd bet she's an LSW) who is "treating Indigo Children" by not just affirming this nonsense, but basically implanting the entire idea as well. These kids aren't seeing angels in their room, or dead people when they show up, but they sure as shit are (or are claiming to) when she's done with them.

Actually ignore my descriptions and just read Geni's wikipedia link, it's FAR better and far more comprehensive. It also gives you a much better concept of some descriptors of Indigo Children being what was called in my day 'a spoiled brat'.

Thanks, Geni.

From the Wiki article:
Quote:
... They identify ten attributes that best describe the indigo child:

  • They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it).
  • They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others don't share that.
  • Self-worth is not a big issue; they often tell the parents "who they are."
  • They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).
  • They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.
  • They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and don't require creative thought.
  • They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters" (nonconforming to any system).
  • They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.
  • They will not respond to "guilt" discipline ("Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did").
  • They are not shy in letting it be known what they need.

So I think we can all agree that Indigo Children really do exist.

The old term is "spoiled brats". Very Happy

Cross posting from JREF:

What bothers me the most is the supposed psychotherapist who has these children brought to her. This is someone who is supposed to HELP kids.

Quote:
Woo Psychotherapist: Usually I get an email that will say, "My child is having meltdowns. She can't sleep at night. She says that she sees things in her room. Can you help me?"

CNN: What do you say?

Woo: I usually say, "Wow! You're seeing something at night? Do you know that sometimes angels visit at night?" And their eyes will sometimes cloud up, with tears even. Maybe because it's the first time anybody really affirmed for them that what they saw was not crazy.

Unbelievable. She's farking these kids up for life.

I disagree.

Not for any good reason. I do admit that this is stupid and messed up for people to do to their kids.

But you know, I actually think these kids will be PERFECTLY prepared to deal with the messed up world. I mean, they'll be with the vast majority of people who consider an invisible sky buddy to be their special personal friend. They'll be with the people who think that wishing for something really really hard will make it happen. They'll have a feeling of superiority and special purpose. They may actually be quite successful for the sole reason that they will be unafraid of failure.

What do you wanna bet that the Donald Trumps of the world always thought of themselves as special, superior and destined for greatness, even as children?

I know some woo-woos who WERE brats as children, and think of themselves as every descriptor from the Indigo Children list. To hear them talk, they're literally God's gift to the earth.

Bloody kid turned up on Australian television. John Safran's latest show (which is pretty much just an excuse for Safran to be obstreperous and obnoxious to his snarky co-host priest and dig up any counter-cultural representative in the Melbourne CBD and abuse them) featured one who gazed into the camera to pass on a message to any other Indigoes.

I used to make the same noises she did to my pet cats until someone pointed out that high-pitched smootching just makes glass shatter.

The less I seek my source for some definitive
The closer I am to fine...

That made me laugh out loud. Thanks.

Reminds me: Here's a message I posted March 6, 2000 on a New Age forum catering to fans of Lee Carroll (who allegedly channels a spiritual entity called Kryon):

xouperman wrote:

Kryon says Indigo Children have the following identifying characteristics:

  • Higher vibration.

  • An imprint that voids certain astrological attributes that usually affect all humans.

  • Specific biological equipment to enable them to better handle the human manufactured impurities of the planet that are now part of the human way of life.

These are from page 99 of Kryon Book One, copyright © 1993 by Lee Carroll.

I propose that before any child or person can be called an Indigo™ they must be certified as having met all three of these criteria. However, there are no certification standards in place yet. The following questions must still be answered:

  • What is the minimum vibrational frequency of an Indigo™?

  • Which specific astrological attributes are voided in an Indigo™?

  • Which "biological equipment" does an Indigo™ have that ordinary people do not have?

  • And how will these things be measured or determined for certification purposes?

By having an official certification process for identifying true Indigo™ Children, we can put an end to all the guessing and false claims.

By the way, there are still no standards of measurment for determining if a person is an Indigo™ or not. Seems that New Agers do not believe in accountability for their claims.

Cite - Kryon Book One:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0963630423/104-5881161-2729557

Note that the name is Kryon®, not the Krylon® brand of spraypaint sold at K-Mart.

NightG1 need something like Lord High Executioner as a title.

As the Messiah I command it!!

In fact I appeal to Our Deity ed to make it so!!

I need to do something awesome to earn a title other than Obviously Irrelevant.

And Wanna-Be Comic Book Geek takes up a lot of space.

Um, aside from the seeing the dead, auras, visions, psychic friends, weird dreams, and knowing too much about humanity... I live like a normal teenager... I grew up watching horror movies and reading books about how what I believe in is wrong... or fake... It's very real for me. Because I was taught to be scared, My spirit guides and passing ghosts tend to surprise me. Many people today don't have aura's that are very bright... some do, some don't... It's actually very strange my mother is the one who told me I was an indigo. I had no Idea there was anyone out there like me. It's weird, like telling you you have clones all over the world. I only know 1 other indigo.

PS: I edited that one picture of that girl. (It was originaly orange-ish and said loner. lol)

I used to have dreams where:
1. I would be on the school bus and realize I was in my underwear.
2. I would go to my Business Law class and the professor would come in and start handing out an exam I didn't study for.
3. I could fly (always a favorite)
4. And the winner is.......demons were in my dorm room. This was a result of hypnogogic paralysis, the stress brought on by mid-term exams and too little sleep. If I were a silly person, I would have gone to see a shaman.

I don't have vivid dreams very much any more. One thing I always knew and that was they were dreams. They were not real. They had no esoteric meaning.

By the way, there is no such a thing as an "indigo child".

If you are claiming you can see other people's "auras", that can be tested scientifically. Are you interested?

When I was a kid, I sometimes had dreams where I would have to drive an automobile. Years later, I actually did. Tongue
